One of the biggest automobile manufacturer in the world, Volkswagen it seems has now decided to pursue the incredibly famous and highly lucrative mobile application phenomenon, as the company is now looking for programmers and developers to create applications for the Volkswagon.

This all new leap in the mobile applications realm is an effort by Volkswagen to incorporate the best of mobile app technology into its future in-vehicle infotainment systems. This initiative has been introduced in the form of a competition called, App My Ride. The competition is slated for the first week of May this year and will provide application developers with a platform, wherein they would be able to share their innovative ideas jointly with Volkswagen. The winner of the App My Ride contest will be judged by a jury and will take home a cash prize as well as winning application could be featured in the VW system at a later date..

To enter the contest, the developers need to have an idea for the application that they would devise for the vehicles, along with their ability to conduct programming using Adobe Flash/Flex. Furthermore, the entries will be judged on the basis of their practicalities in regards to the driver and the passenger of the vehicles.
