earth day We Need 365 Earth Days a Year!

World is celebrating 40th Earth Day today. Ironically, most cities are reeling under extreme weather conditions. Natural resources are depleting, wildlife species are becoming extinct, pollution levels are too high and modern life is consuming more energy and leaving carbon foot prints like never before.

Climate change and global warming is now and here. Groundwater levels are low. They say next war will not be about oil but will be for drinking water. Just one day for sparing a thought about our dying planet is not enough. We need to mend our ways and opt for eco friendly sustainable ways all through the year to save the future of the planet.

It has been 40 years since U.S Senator Nelson held an event on 22nd April to generate eco- consciousness. What started as a single event became a global environmental movement and every year world celebrated this day as ‘Earth Day’ – a day to celebrate our planet and reinforce environmental consciousness. But now we need to celebrate all days as Earth Days and be environmentally conscious for all 365 days a year to save our dying planet. It may be already too late since most changes are irreversible!
