What Children Really Need from Parents

The ecological systems theory has much strength. However, it also has many shortcomings and weaknesses. It only considers children’s development and not adulthood and old age. Though it says it is a bioecological theory, there is very little about the actual biology, which influences a person’s development.

He does not talk about the normative patterns of development and if we should have different development theories for different cultures, as that is exactly what he suggests. However, ecological systems theory may not stand on its own, but may complement other developmental theories.

If you have a child at home, it becomes your responsibility to take care of him or her and also know that all these environmental and biological factors shape the child. If there is something faulty in any of the aforementioned systems, it becomes your responsibility as a parent to make sure the child is removed from a faulty system. Raising kids has never been easy, but with a little effort, you could go a long way!
