What is the greatest achievement of NASA?

From April 14 to April 21, NASA conducts an online poll where people can vote for the agency’s greatest achievement. NASA opened a section on its website to give everyone on the planet a chance to decide and vote on the agency’s most monumental contribution in the last 50 years. This is in line with the celebration of Earth Day on April 22.

The achievements of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States are not only related to the cosmos or distant planets but also with the planet Earth and its inhabitants, with particular impact in science and engineering.

NASA gives a choice from a list of the ten developments that they believe had a greater impact such as the view from space of air pollution, the images of global warming and the melting of the poles, movement of ice sheets, and the technology that has improved the accuracy of modern GPS (Global Positioning Systems). NASA satellites have shown the deep Earth from the sky. There are also achievements in the development of orbital sensors that measure the variables that affect the climate, thereby enabling the capability to accurately detect approaching hurricanes and cyclones. Another one among the achievements for which the public can vote on is the system for measuring large-scale cultivation in the world and locating these places exactly on the map. This has become a tool that allows scientists to anticipate the lack of food in the world. NASA also reaches the ocean’s abyss to know its depth and temperature, indicators in measuring global warming.
