Apple Inc is a very wealthy company — it sold 55 million iPods, 13 million iPhones and nearly 10 million Macs last year. Apple also is one of the most admired brands, both generally and among young people. In fact, Apple has done some good things. It has a good record on product power management. More recently it has improved on electronics recycling after being prodded by groups like As You Sow. The dean of climate change himself, Al Gore is one of Apple’s most prominent board members and fans.
So this fact really beats us. Of the big four IT companies — Apple, Dell, HP, IBM — Apple has disclosed the least information and is the only one that has not made a major commitment to carbon footprint reduction. A recent report by RiskMetrics and CERES focusing on corporate governance and climate change policies scored IBM at 79, Dell 77 and Apple 27. Unlike most companies, Apple does not disclose charitable contributions.
Apple’s iTunes store is the top music retailer in the U.S. Imagine the opportunity to use a tiny piece of that valuable real estate to educate consumers by offering free videos on how to reduce carbom foot-print. How about donating or earmarking 5 percent of its profits to mitigate the environmental impact of its products? Apple, you are one of the most popular and closely watched companies. And you have Al Gore on the board. Either you are doing very little or hurting yourself by not responding adequately about what you are doing on the green front. Whatever it is, buck up!

This is such bogus BS. Green this, carbon footprint that. . .
Why don’t you dress in your hemp skirt, head to the cave in the mountains, eat your sticks and twigs and leave the rest of alone to live in peace. And remember no fires to cook with or keep warm, you might cause “global warming”
How much power did you use in not only creating this silly three paragraph “article” but then to serve it up to the world also? Boy, were is your sense in thinking about your “carbon footprint”? I know how you can save some energy – quit writing drivel.
None of the statements in the above article say anything about how “green” Apple is. They merely point out that Apple doesn’t bow to pressure from splinter groups, make public promises, or disclose company data. As for As You Sow, I’ve never heard of them – perhaps Apple corporate hasn’t, either.
When you have some verifiable data showing Apple is polluting (not simply a lack of public statements) you can use a title like “Why is Apple not Greener?”
It’s all a political tool that the Dems are using against the Republicans.
Both parties are the same. They both S U C K and only care about themselves , their contributors and lobbyists. There is NO ! Yes READ what I said . NO proof of Global warming by any credible scientists or science. If you’re mumbling something right now, you know NOTHING , and you’d buy the Brooklyn Bridge .
The same people babbling this mantra, are helping corporations to navigate around all of these green mandates and know they have a god given right to tell everyone else what to do without it applying to them .
Screw the environment and screw all of you that dare to preach this excrement .
The environment will self regulate and has always self regulated itself longer than we’ve been on earth, and will , when we’re long gone.
I’d go deeper into this, but most of you are ignorant & could never understand the science behind it. You’d rather be spoon fed dribble from people who want to take your mind off relevant issues.
There is a Petition circulated by Dr. Arthur Robinson, director of the Oregon Institute for Science and Medicine, signed by more than 31,000 scientists who dispute the theory of man-made global warming. Is that enough for you Idiots ?
“Why Is Apple Not Greener?”
Because their name’s not Granny Smith.
I dont know about others, but your post has really affected me! If a multi million company does not bother to compensate for various kinds of pollution they create and feel no remorse for it, then it sucks! Truly rotten, smelly apple, i would call it!
Would always think twice before buying any thing from it now!
