The world of wires and cables is all set to come to an end. The concept of wireless electricity isn’t new, but there is a huge difference between concepts and realty. However, a group Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) scientists and researchers have established a new company, known as WiTricity, that is dedicated to the research and development of wireless electricity. These engineers believe that, the concept of wireless electricity can be reality as soon as the year 2011.

The all new wireless electricity will be able to power all our household appliances, such as laptops, computers, television sets, mobile phones and will even be powerful enough to recharge the electric cars, if you have one. The engineers have stated that this new form of power will be completely eco-friendly and will reduce the energy costs per household substantially.

WiTricity is working hard on this current concept and is hoping to integrate this technology with devices around the household. The engineers are expected to get in talks with the original equipment manufactures of various devices, to embed wireless protocols in their devices. This would ensure that, the wireless electricity project will be able to produce the desire results.

Last year, engineers at the Intel corporation were successful in illuminating a bulb from three feet away, using wireless electricity protocols.
