
At the world Climate Change conference in Copenhagen, Denmark the World Meteorological Organization has announced some alarming results in regards to the changes in the climate of our planet. As per the agency, in entire recorded human history, the period between 2000-2009 has been the warmest and represents a trends of continuous climb in temperatures.
However, there have been intense speculations on the issue of global warming and ever since emails between climate scientists in Britain and the United States were leaked after a hacker posted them online, the severity of the global warming phenomenon is being greatly downplayed by the skeptics.
The main point of interest during the talks have been the difference between the poor and the rich nations along with the 13 page climate treaty that has been formulated by Denmark and calls for international support to combat the threat of global warming and other threats to our planet’s climate. Although, the Danish officials have repeatedly stated that, the 13 page document isn’t by any means an official draft, still the poorer nations have been raising objections on the steps stated in the document.
Lumumba Stanislaus Di-Aping a negotiator from Sudan has openly asked and challenged the developed to further lower their emissions than they have agreed upon and in a straightforward statement has asked U.S President, Barack Obama to focus and commit more financial resources to cut America’s emission rates.
