Sounds unbelievable but possible, isn’t it? According to a blueprint written by the European Renewable Energy Council and Greenpeace, the world could get 100% of its energy from renewable sources of energy by 2090. I wish I could live to see that day! The report brings forwards a situation that would need biomass, geothermal, solar and wind energy to provide the majority of world’s power demands.

The report also mentions that this would be possible by generating energy on a small scale like rooftop wind turbines and solar panels so that each of us can get our own share from the nature directly. Also, the buildings should be made more efficient with respect to insulation. The report asserts that 50% of this would be achieved by 2050. All this apart, the report has stumbled on one little fact that the energy demand around the world is on a perpetual rise and we cannot even let the thought of its decrease come to our minds.

Though the report sounds encouraging, we have to realize that it is ‘us’ who have to make it possible and the path would be long and harsh. But in the end, the result would be a safer, cleaner and greener world.
