Would BookSprouts be a Success?

Reading books has always been a pastime that everyone wants to discuss with friends and BooksSprouts understands this. The portal is an online social networking group for those who love reading books. You could go ahead and sign up easily and start adding your favorite books and based on your favorite books you could join ‘book clubs’ and connect with other readers with similar interests.

The site also allows you to just type an author, geographical location, subject, or even a book and it brings a list of book clubs. You could make friends, share information and reviews, and even meet with online friends who have similar literary interests.

The site is free to use and there are hardly any ads. So it may be difficult for the portal to make some good revenue as the business model is rather weak. Moreover, the site will have to compete with biggies like the Shelfari which was recently acquired by Amazon, and even LibraryThing and both are social networking sites based on books. However, we will have to wait and watch in order to see if BookSprouts will be something different or yet another dotcom failure.
