yahoo Yahoo launches new Notetaking tool: Saves both paper and time!

If you are one of those who searches on various topics on the internet (the Wikipedia-geek type) and then jots down all those important points on little yellow papers or even on the back of old envelopes and any other piece of paper you find handy, then Yahoo is all set to find a cure for your bug. The internet giant is launching a feature in its search engine which can automatically take and store notes from the pages you visit. ‘Search Pod’ is now available in 15 countries in its Beta version and Yahoo will be looking closely in the coming months at its popularity and user-friendly nature.

The Search Pad though is aimed at collecting serious information rather than for random searches that just skim the topic on top. The deeper you search on a specified topic; the tool automatically makes notes from those web pages and creates a separate file after each such search. While you will need to be logged into your Yahoo account to use it, this feature immediately offers privacy and once you have all the notes, you can even mail them to any account.

The launch of Search Pad is another obvious attempt by Yahoo to woo the loyal Google search engine fanatics towards itself. While the feature looks and sounds great, its success might only depend on how well Yahoo can make it further user-friendly.
