
YouTube is one of the most, perhaps the most, popular video sharing site on the internet. The popularity of the site is equalled by theĀ of the site; after all, it is common knowledge that almost anything can be found on YouTube ranging from news to music to dating tips.
Google has decided to give YouTube a big makeover so that it is more appealing to content creators. Declaring extreme war over all its major competitors at the moment, most especially Hulu, the new YouTube look would have four tabs- movies, music, shows, videos- which would replace the previous tabs of videos, channels and community. A major change that the site will face is that all videos over the site, under all four tabs, would have interruptive ads. This is being done on Hulu and other similarities can also be seen, such as the new player interface.
The new look for YouTube will make a very clear demarcation between long-form premium content and videos uploaded by users. After a delay, the launch of the new and improved YouTube has been set for April 16th.
