Folks who serve the internet would hardly miss visiting “YouTube” (I do it several times everyday). YouTube provides excellent service all the time. This time around the brilliant site is turning their focus to online movie rental business. This is such a cool news and it will be available only in the US for now. However, only five films will be available for rent at the outset. They are “The Cove,” “Bass Ackwards,” “One Too Many Mornings,” “Homewrecker” and “Children of Invention.” There will be umpteen movies available in the days to come.
All you movie buffs out there will definitely find this hard to resist. I am already so tempted to start borrowing the movies. As for now, the movies will come from the 2009 and 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Each of the movies will be rented out to the users at a minimal rate. For instance, one of the Sundance films is being offered for $3.99 (£2.50) each for users to watch over a 48 hour viewing period.
YouTube will also expand its rental catalogue with television shows and feature films from major studios. As of now, the movie rental facility has been going active since January 22, 2010; YouTube is going to rock its users even more. The famous site has been contributing remarkable services all the while. Apparently, 20 hours of video is uploaded every minute.
In August last year, Comscore reported that over 10 billion videos were streamed on YouTube. This is indeed a great number. YouTube’s pay-per-view movie offering is going to give Apple’s iTunes store, Amazon.com and Microsoft’s XBox Live a run for their money.
